I got my ski pass!

Monday, November 28, 2005

Put up the Christmas tree last night with the kids. It was fun... I need to buy candy canes. I love holiday music and played it the entire time. "thanks" to Mike who put up with it. Also got most of my shopping done this weekend. Just need to worry about the boys now... which is a lot of worrying. I want to get them ski passes but they're SO bloody expensive!

Oh, and I'm not absolutely certain yet but I think I may have lost something really important to me. I'm still in search of them... but, David- if you read this, I'm really REALLY sorry if I lost them in the move. I'm ready to cry every time I think about it and I may be hitting your mom up for new ones soon. :( I really don't want to because I loved them SO much and I can't even think about replacing them right now. *sighs* We'll see, I guess.

The boys last week when it snowed...

And Pagan... because some of you are asking for updates. :)

It snowed 17" in Beaver Creek yesterday and driving home wasn't fun. We missed the accident, though... barely. It was so bad they had to shut down the freeway. Last night, though, when I took the dog out around 10, the scene that made up my "yard" was ethereal. The sky, clear but for a few clouds, was bright with stars and the full moon. The snow was luminous and the entire valley glowed silver. I played with the dog while I was in the t-shirt and flannel pants that make up my pajamas. I ran around crunching the frozen grass with my slippers and it was wonderful. You know that cold you get when you can feel it all over your skin but you don't really feel COLD? Just kinds of flushed with it? That's how it felt.

Today, though, it's 10 degrees here where I work. It's 20 degrees in Eagle. It'll get down to 7 degrees tonight. I don't think I'll be running around in my slippers.

Last night we were up in Avon visiting my cousin and planning Thanksgiving dinner. It was snowing pretty heavily when we left and Mike had his first real dose of hideous driving conditions. He did really well, though... so I made fun of him and told him to wait for the white outs. I'm mean that way. So, we're driving through Wolcott (about halfway to Eagle from Avon and a haven for bad weather) and my sister calls.

"where are you?"
"Wolcott"
"we're at the diner, come eat with us and I'll buy you dinner"
"oh, cool! you sure? okay, be there in a few minutes"

We get to the diner... catch up. Yapyapyap. We finish dinner (chicken fried steak for my sister and me and Mike had a monster burger... freaking HUGE burger) and Megan says "I have to tell you what Fiona (her dog) did. I was in taking my bath and she was being so quiet I knew something was wrong... but there was no way I was getting out to find out what she was doing. Anyway, I finish my bath and make my way in to see what she was doing. *insert look of hatred here* Kyria, she ATE all of the hooks off of my bras. All of them. On BOTH SIDES." I'm laughing at her. Mike is laughing at her. Then "then I remembered that I have a bra in my glove box in my truck" We stop laughing. Me: "blank stare" Mike: "we should probably leave now" Megan: "no! I have a good reason for this!" and she proceeds to tell us how one day at work her bra strap broke while she was wearing a white shirt and it was horrible and now she keeps a back up bra in the truck. Mike and I are still just a little weirded out by my sister keeping random undergarments in her glove box so I say "well, at least it wasn't the ex girlfriend's panties or something." to which my sister says "Oh, no. That's another story all together"

You're all gonna DIE!

Thursday, November 10, 2005

This morning, at ungodly hours, Mike and I had this conversation:

Mike - See? You're just mean.
Me - And still you love me. You have to love me for something.
Mike - It's the hoohoo.
Me - It's so NOT the hoohoo. (I do, however, have a fabulous hoohoo... not the point of the story)
Mike - You're right. It's the chicken enchiladas.
Me - The chicken enchiladas?? I didn't even start making those until early this year.
Mike - It was a long term investment. The chicken enchiladas were the payoff.
Me - *glare*

Mer.

Ian just walked out of the bedroom and says to Mike and I "we have doggie poo in the bedroom" and I say, "well, how'd you get doggie poo in the bedroom??" and he looks at me like I'm the epitome of stupid and says, "the dog pooped in the bedroom." Mike laughs. I laugh. Ian proceeds with, "And I have to pick it up!!" incredibly indignant, and I say, "well, why aren't Matt or Zach going to pick it up??" He looks at me the exact same way, absolutely assured that I'm slow beyond measure, and says, "because they're lazy."

Okay, I take these stupid quizes all of the time but I never post them... I couldn't help myself though. It's ICE CREAM for chrissakes! I just want to say, though, that I really don't like chocolate ice cream.

Ian came home sick the other day. Thursday. He was throwing up all over and it was teh nasty. Nasty illness left the house on Friday... or so I thought. Ian had given the nasty to Matt, Zach and ME! Needless to say, my evening didn't go well. Up all night. Sick. Nasty. Today I feel better except for some icky gurgling noise my belly is occasionally making... but Matt and Zach are still randomly sick and I'm waiting for Mike to get it. Don't ask me why I share these things... I don't know.

Okay, meeting with the principal and teacher this morning. Much better than I thought it was going to be. Tanya sat quietly while I recapped the issues Mike and I have had along with some conversations of particular concern that have occurred with her. Heather's response was very supportive of Tanya but also addressed our concerns (in other words she was a very good manager). Tanya's explanation of some of Ian's issues were true to the point but, the bigger issue, we didn't know about them prior to this. So, we all tacked it down as a communication deficiency on Tanya's part and we've now devised a solution. Needless to say, we have high hopes for the future.

I was on the bridge that goes over Beaver Creek (the water... not the village) yesterday, as I often am at the end of the day when I walk to the parking garage, and I noticed something really unusual. The trees are all barren now, except the evergreens, and there are aspen leaves all over the ground and snow from a few days ago still covering the small, wooden bridge and hiding in the shade... it's cold, as autumn should be. I love this time of year and I often walk along smiling to myself and thinking how much I love this place and how I've never been so content. My eyes drifted to the sky and WOW. It was twilight and the entire sky was baby blue and there were wispy clouds everywhere... not the big, poofy cotton-ball clouds I'm used to seeing through summer. Just wisps of cloud everywhere... what made it "wow" was that every single cloud was the exact same shade of cotton-candy pink. I told a friend that it looked like an artist had tried to paint what happy should look like.

Lunch with Mike today... Meeting with my boss today for my 90 day review... making enchiladas tonight. Nothing too exciting.
