PICTURES!

I had my very first holiday dinner last night. It was, I am very pleased to say, a success. I made apricot-rosemary stuffed turkey breast with gratin potatoes and honey-mustard glazed carrots. And rolls. :) Yummy. No time to bake pie, though. I was very busy.

So, I promised Mike I'd post this. The recipe for the turkey breast called for a bone-in turkey which you then de-bone. At dinner I was commenting on how nicely the turkey turned out and I say to Mike "Thank you for boning the turkey, honey" I go about eating because I'm too dense to realize that everyone else at the table has frozen. Then I hear a very tentative "you're welcome" and everyone breaks in to laughter. It occurs to me what I've said after a moment. Needless to say I was blushing, crying and laughing all at the same time.

I also want to say another very sincere "I'm Sorry" to Sara. You see, my bird has developed another strong dislike and it happens to be her. Poor thing. The bird hopped on her and bit her really hard on her neck. I felt awful. Mike felt awful. When she left she joked that I had been training the bird to come after her and that she needed to leave before it gouged her eyes out. :\ I felt bad all over again.

The kids got exactly what they wanted, which is awesome. That's what it's all about, after all.

That's it for now. I'm very tired today and Mike got to stay home. I wish I could have slept in with him.

I have cool friends. I have received bath stuff, chocolate-covered blueberries, polar bear shaped maple syrup, snow block molds, a dragonfly necklace that was special ordered for me, a gift card for L'Occitane... but I have to say that my very favorite present so far is my Post Secret book. :)

I'm still so addicted.

Anyway, I had loads of fun in Las Vegas. I got to have sushi with David, go shopping with my Bee... spend some time with Ken and Amy. We had a big dinner at Olive Garden that was a lot of fun even though two of three sisters totally flaked on me. That's okay. That's why you choose your friends and not your family, I guess. So, THANK YOU TO WILLOW for coming along. Oh, and totally almost forgot the eighties party we ended up at after Shad's going away party Saturday night. Freaking THEATER in the house. Neato. And Jennabea with a mohawk was, of course, awesome. The fact that she squealed and nearly humped my leg when she saw me was kinda nice, too. *beams*

I had much fun after dinner with Jamie, Terry, Bianca, Mike and Danielle. Small groups in bars are definitely more my thing. I miss all of them already. What is it with Terry and those eyes, anyway? He looks at you with these big pools of emotion that just grab at my heart. *sighs* Yeah. So anyway, the next trip in March will definitely be worth taking. David and Bee are coming out. David to ski... Bee to shop with me. :) And then it's back to Vegas to see Rent and hang out with my friends s'more. Can't wait!

Friday, December 23, 2005

Okay, so I have a lot to post. A lot. Until I get around to it, though, you can live with this. Ken tagged me so here you go:

5 weird things about me -

I'm incredibly particular about my sheets. I awaken people up in the middle of the night in order to ensure they're on correctly. I can't sleep if they're mussed and I swear it takes me something like ten minutes every night when I get in to bed to be settled and ready to sleep. I'm crazy.

I always order my food differently than it shows on the menu. Mostly, it's because I like my food prepared a certain way... but in the back of my mind I know that they have to make it fresh if it's not ordered to the set specifications.

I sincerely think an impressive vocabulary is hot. I love it when I am speaking with someone and realize I have to look up something that they've said. HOT. Now, on this same topic, I really HATE it (SO MUCH) when people THINK they have a good vocabulary but instead just mispronounce words and use them in the wrong context. If I ever do this and you catch me, and subsequently correct me, I will love you forever for saving me from the disdain of others who feel the same way about these things.

I really enjoy medical shows but I can't watch them because seeing someone cut open freaks me out on so many levels and I end up hitting the channel button on the remote repeatedly, changing the channel back and forth through the entire show. This really annoys people. Sorry, honey.

I have no life line on my palm. Palmists have told me before that this is impossible. I show them and they absolutely flip out and won't talk to me anymore. I called the psychic institute once to find out why they do that... the palmist didn't believe me so I faxed her a photocopy of my hand. She wouldn't take my calls after that. I really wish someone would tell me what the hell that's all about.

I tag Bianca and Jenny.

I promise to update about my trip over the weekend.

Michael is unhappy with me because I keep threatening to put my dog's fur up in a pony so that it'll stay out of his eyes. He says this is mean because, well, my dog is a boy dog. So, today I did THIS -------------------------->

Heh. I love having pets.

A really bad picture of the slopes

A closer, really bad picture of the slopes.

Thursday, December 8, 2005

I have cool friends. Lafay wants to take sexy-sexy pictures of me. :) She's incredibly talented and you should check out her stuff. Check it out, dammit. Now. I dig her Childhood Interrupted series.

I'm pretty excited... too bad it has to wait until March.

I'm sick again. Totally not related to me being sick, it was -19 degrees this morning in Eagle. Cold. So, me being sick combined with the cold temperatures = me not taking my snowboard lesson this weekend. :( Maybe.

Wednesday, December 7, 2005

Um... ew.

Being a Christian girl. and raised in a family that was devout to the point of forfeiting medical treatment in favor of faith healing (I had two of my three kids at home because of this... ouch), I have to say that I believe strongly in Christmas as a religious holiday. That being said, I also recognize that there are people that have different belief systems than I do and I do my best to respect that in others which I would want respected. After all, we are all here in this great country because a few brave groups of people fled religious persecution from another government. So please understand my intolerance for this kind of critisism of the president. I mean, how often is it that you get to see him respecting other cultures? All right, then.

So I'm sitting on the sofa today and I think "hmm. I want some gum." I go get my gum from my purse and, since he was standing there next to me, I offer Mike a piece. He accepts and proceeds to chew his gum. I'm chewing my gum and I look over at him. He's looking at me funny. Then he blows air out of his nose, kinda forcefully and I look at him like "what the fuck are you doing?" and I say "Um... you okay?" And he does it again except this time something FLIES OUT OF HIS NOSE and bounces on my sofa with a solid "THUNK"! I'm horrified. I make the "I'm horrified" face. Mike starts laughing hysterically. I say "you are so NASTY" and then "gross, Mike. SO gross" and he's still laughing. In between his fits he says "your face!! *laughing, laughing, laughing* YOUR FACE!!" and I just glare at him and tell him how awful he is. Then I say "well, did you pick it up? You'd better pick it up" and he does... and shows me it was his gum wrapper. *blinks* My husband stuck a gum wrapper up his nose and, more importantly, SHOT IT OUT OF HIS NOSE, just to get me to make a face. What kind of man does this stuff? That'd be Mike.

Here is Pagan's belly after playing in the snow.

I have to bathe him in warm water to get these off...
or let him freeze while they melt.

They adhere to his belly fur and it's SO SAD trying to pull them off. :

And here he is... just being cute.

So, I got to wrap presents yesterday. Anyone that knows me knows that this is really all the holidays are about for me. I LOVE to wrap presents. Now my tree looks pretty with all of the stuff under it. :) I feel bad because I direct shipped some stuff out to family and friends and didn't give it the personal attention that maybe they deserved... but I wanted to make sure they got it as soon as possible and having to haul it all out in the van when we travel is a pain. :\ Anyway, hope you all understand. I'm so ready for Christmas! Ooo... the boys decided to wait a year for the ski passes. We gave them some choices and I was really impressed that they made the responsible one. It's nice when you realize your kids really do get it. Anyway, we're going to focus a while on getting them their gear and stuff and then when we go to get the passes next year they'll be all set up.

I found them, I found them, I found them! *happy dance*

Oh, totally forgot to share that two drunk guys pushed down the 15' Christmas tree in the gallery last night. I love my job.

Haven't posted much lately. I've been SO busy with work and the holidays. Work has been a mad house... the World Cup is here and the races have brought in ALL KINDS of people. It's neat, though, seeing all of the different nationalities represented in their ski teams. Fun. Nothing huge to report. I'm tired. I can't wait for the next two weeks to go by so I can be in Vegas again. I'm tired. Yes, I know I said that twice. The kids are loving all of the snow. Playing around a lot and having snowball fights and building snowmen. My dog loves the snow. He comes in with ice chunks stuck to his belly-fur. :\ Gets my floor all wet. Ick.

I got my ski pass!

Monday, November 28, 2005

Put up the Christmas tree last night with the kids. It was fun... I need to buy candy canes. I love holiday music and played it the entire time. "thanks" to Mike who put up with it. Also got most of my shopping done this weekend. Just need to worry about the boys now... which is a lot of worrying. I want to get them ski passes but they're SO bloody expensive!

Oh, and I'm not absolutely certain yet but I think I may have lost something really important to me. I'm still in search of them... but, David- if you read this, I'm really REALLY sorry if I lost them in the move. I'm ready to cry every time I think about it and I may be hitting your mom up for new ones soon. :( I really don't want to because I loved them SO much and I can't even think about replacing them right now. *sighs* We'll see, I guess.

The boys last week when it snowed...
(sorry it's so pixilated. my camera phone doesn't do snow well)

And Pagan... because some of you are asking for updates. :)

Tuesday, November 15, 2005

It snowed 17" in Beaver Creek yesterday and driving home wasn't fun. We missed the accident, though... barely. It was so bad they had to shut down the freeway. Last night, though, when I took the dog out around 10, the scene that made up my "yard" was ethereal. The sky, clear but for a few clouds, was bright with stars and the full moon. The snow was luminous and the entire valley glowed silver. I played with the dog while I was in the t-shirt and flannel pants that make up my pajamas. I ran around crunching the frozen grass with my slippers and it was wonderful. You know that cold you get when you can feel it all over your skin but you don't really feel COLD? Just kinds of flushed with it? That's how it felt.

Today, though, it's 10 degrees here where I work. It's 20 degrees in Eagle. It'll get down to 7 degrees tonight. I don't think I'll be running around in my slippers.

Monday, November 14, 2005

Last night we were up in Avon visiting my cousin and planning Thanksgiving dinner. It was snowing pretty heavily when we left and Mike had his first real dose of hideous driving conditions. He did really well, though... so I made fun of him and told him to wait for the white outs. I'm mean that way. So, we're driving through Wolcott (about halfway to Eagle from Avon and a haven for bad weather) and my sister calls.

"where are you?"
"Wolcott"
"we're at the diner, come eat with us and I'll buy you dinner"
"oh, cool! you sure? okay, be there in a few minutes"

We get to the diner... catch up. Yapyapyap. We finish dinner (chicken fried steak for my sister and me and Mike had a monster burger... freaking HUGE burger) and Megan says "I have to tell you what Fiona (her dog) did. I was in taking my bath and she was being so quiet I knew something was wrong... but there was no way I was getting out to find out what she was doing. Anyway, I finish my bath and make my way in to see what she was doing. *insert look of hatred here* Kyria, she ATE all of the hooks off of my bras. All of them. On BOTH SIDES." I'm laughing at her. Mike is laughing at her. Then "then I remembered that I have a bra in my glove box in my truck" We stop laughing. Me: "blank stare" Mike: "we should probably leave now" Megan: "no! I have a good reason for this!" and she proceeds to tell us how one day at work her bra strap broke while she was wearing a white shirt and it was horrible and now she keeps a back up bra in the truck. Mike and I are still just a little weirded out by my sister keeping random undergarments in her glove box so I say "well, at least it wasn't the ex girlfriend's panties or something." to which my sister says "Oh, no. That's another story all together"

You're all gonna DIE!

Thursday, November 10, 2005

This morning, at ungodly hours, Mike and I had this conversation:

Mike - See? You're just mean.
Me - And still you love me. You have to love me for something.
Mike - It's the hoohoo.
Me - It's so NOT the hoohoo. (I do, however, have a fabulous hoohoo... not the point of the story)
Mike - You're right. It's the chicken enchiladas.
Me - The chicken enchiladas?? I didn't even start making those until early this year.
Mike - It was a long term investment. The chicken enchiladas were the payoff.
Me - *glare*

Ian just walked out of the bedroom and says to Mike and I "we have doggie poo in the bedroom" and I say, "well, how'd you get doggie poo in the bedroom??" and he looks at me like I'm the epitome of stupid and says, "the dog pooped in the bedroom." Mike laughs. I laugh. Ian proceeds with, "And I have to pick it up!!" incredibly indignant, and I say, "well, why aren't Matt or Zach going to pick it up??" He looks at me the exact same way, absolutely assured that I'm slow beyond measure, and says, "because they're lazy."

Monday, November 7, 2005

Okay, I take these stupid quizes all of the time but I never post them... I couldn't help myself though. It's ICE CREAM for chrissakes! I just want to say, though, that I really don't like chocolate ice cream.

Ian came home sick the other day. Thursday. He was throwing up all over and it was teh nasty. Nasty illness left the house on Friday... or so I thought. Ian had given the nasty to Matt, Zach and ME! Needless to say, my evening didn't go well. Up all night. Sick. Nasty. Today I feel better except for some icky gurgling noise my belly is occasionally making... but Matt and Zach are still randomly sick and I'm waiting for Mike to get it. Don't ask me why I share these things... I don't know.

Wednesday, November 2, 2005

Okay, meeting with the principal and teacher this morning. Much better than I thought it was going to be. Tanya sat quietly while I recapped the issues Mike and I have had along with some conversations of particular concern that have occurred with her. Heather's response was very supportive of Tanya but also addressed our concerns (in other words she was a very good manager). Tanya's explanation of some of Ian's issues were true to the point but, the bigger issue, we didn't know about them prior to this. So, we all tacked it down as a communication deficiency on Tanya's part and we've now devised a solution. Needless to say, we have high hopes for the future.

I was on the bridge that goes over Beaver Creek (the water... not the village) yesterday, as I often am at the end of the day when I walk to the parking garage, and I noticed something really unusual. The trees are all barren now, except the evergreens, and there are aspen leaves all over the ground and snow from a few days ago still covering the small, wooden bridge and hiding in the shade... it's cold, as autumn should be. I love this time of year and I often walk along smiling to myself and thinking how much I love this place and how I've never been so content. My eyes drifted to the sky and WOW. It was twilight and the entire sky was baby blue and there were wispy clouds everywhere... not the big, poofy cotton-ball clouds I'm used to seeing through summer. Just wisps of cloud everywhere... what made it "wow" was that every single cloud was the exact same shade of cotton-candy pink. I told a friend that it looked like an artist had tried to paint what happy should look like.

Lunch with Mike today... Meeting with my boss today for my 90 day review... making enchiladas tonight. Nothing too exciting.

Monday, October 31, 2005

Okay, kids freaking EVERYWHERE. I thought Las Vegas had a lot of trick-or-treaters but, seriously, the streets were still packed at 8:30... no signs of slowing down any time soon. The kids would still be out if we hadn't played bad parents and said no. And candy score? WAY BETTER THAN VEGAS. Like, by a TON. We were out MAYBE an hour (closer to 45 minutes) and had more candy then we did after 2 hours in Vegas. It's sick how much candy the kids made out with this year.

Now, Mike and I have a method to Halloween. He and I ride in the van with the center seats pulled out and the side door locked open. Heater full blast, hazards on. :) We coast around with music on and let the kids do all of the walking. At the end of each street they hop in, warm up, and we find the next block to hit. It's nice. My sister and cousin joined this year and confirmed it was THE way to trick-or-treat. Everyone needs a minivan.

HALLOWEEN! I'm excited. Party at Agave tonight and then trick-or-treating with the kids. We cleaned out pumpkins last night and we're pulling the kids out of school early today so they can carve them up. :) I'm such a cool mom to be neglecting their education this way. Ah, well. I'm sure they can miss shop and PE for one day.

Had to talk to Ian's principal again. I've never disliked a teacher as much as I do Tanya. Hateful cow. Meeting later this week, will update with progress.

So, a friend of mine dressed up like Pedro for Halloween. See his picture here. He's the brown one... sorta. Orangy-brown-rust colored one. While I, personally, would never have commemorated a moment like that in my life I have to give him props for, not only capturing it for all eternity, making it available on the internet.

I'm so addicted.

HAIKU! Bianca did some... check them out here. Mine is a little more traditional, though.

Walk outside, breathe in

Snow is in the air

Thursday, October 27, 2005

So... I'm sitting in the diner tonight with the kids (Mike is working overnights until Saturday) and I remember, "oh, crap! I need to call Bianca back" so, like so many impolite patrons that annoy me every day, I whip out my cell phone and dial my Bee. She picks up and immediately says, "guess what I have in my bag... right. now." and I laugh because I'm thinking "FINALLY! She went and bought a new vibrator!!" But no. My Bee can't be THAT normal. Oh no. I say, "what do you have?" and she says in an excited whisper that was really just WAY TOO EXCITED "I have a BOOB!" I crack up. I say "A boob???" and she confirms. The kind women have implanted in to their bodies my friend is walking around with in her purse. *blinks* Yeah. So anyway, the goal now is to get another one so she has a pair.

That's the end of my funny story.

Wednesday, October 26, 2005

Okay... A couple of things. First, Michael put in his notice today and told everyone how truly horrid his manager is. YAY MICHAEL! He received an offer to manage a company in Edwards which will pay better, have more flexibility and better people. Nice job, baby.

Second - I am so bothered by this.

Tuesday, October 25, 2005

I got home tonight to hear all about how my youngest son, Ian, is now married. Her name is Clementine. She has a hair bow. Then he told me that his other friend, Abby, told him someone was going to kill him. "F'real, mom". Kindergarten is so much more drama these days than it used to be.

Monday, October 24, 2005

head. ache. owie.

Saturday, October 22, 2005

Well, Mike is out tonight so I'm alone until 8:30 tomorrow morning. He volunteered to do a few extra manager shifts this month at $200 a pop, which is nice. I'm bored though. I've already baked cookies and plan to do a pie. I'm ordering pizza for dinner so I won't have to worry about that. Going to take a bubble bath later with my new stuff. :) Yay bubbles!

Upcoming events:
Tomorrow: Jeff's (my boss) housewarming party. Should be fun.
Next Sunday: Halloweenfest in Beaver Creek.
Next Monday: First: End of season party at Agave. Everything paid for, family invited, costumes welcome. I love my job and the people are what makes it so great. Then: Ginormous Halloween party-type thing in Avon. Food, games, prizes. Should be a blast... and the kids'll get to trick-or-treat.
In Between: We'll see what happens. We should have gotten the van back from the transmission shop on Friday but, well, we didn't... so we should have it by Tuesday now. Cross your fingers. Maybe hang out with my sister some... she's in recluse mode since we got back from Nevada, which is normal. She needs to recenter herself.

I wish leaving didn't get so much more painful each time I had to do it.

Wednesday, October 19, 2005

I don't do this often but I had to link Shannon's post about her Spanish class. I found it incredibly funny but, what's more, I completely understand her frustration.

Read... and enjoy. She's a funny girl.

Communicative practice in Spanish

Updates from my trip:

I ended up being out there an extra day because my dad went in to the hospital with symptoms of a heart attack. His panels came back okay (no heart damage) but they think he has a small blockage and is going to have to go in for an angiogram in the next week or so. He was very cranky about the hospital, though. Now he's cranky about his diet.

Spent a lot of time with Bianca and David... saw Jenny but not as long as I'd like to have. :\ Sushi was awesome. Drinking with friends was awesome. :)

I got my hair done... it's really dark now and I seriously love it. I'm so excited because I hadn't see David (Bianca's dad/my hair guy) since I left. We kept missing each other. The last time I was out there I had it cut by a friend of his but I wasn't thrilled with it and now that I'm back in his loving care I couldn't be more happy. GOOD HAIR = BLISS.

Saw Bianca's new place. SO CUTE. It's perfect for the two of them. Had lunch with her family and met her grandparents... grandparents are sweet and very funny.

Left on Monday evening after stopping to get some stuff from Carolyn (and I didn't have time to shop for her so I'm shipping something to her soon) didn't sleep much while I was in town and the drive was rough. Got in at four, slept three hours and then headed off to work. Work = suckass that day. Everyone was fantastic though and my boss was offering to get me coffee everytime he walked by my office. He said "you always take care of me when I look like you do..." it was very nice of him. I think I'll try to keep him for a while. :) I feel two billion times better today, though... hence the update.

I miss my friends so much already.

Just a few updates:
Snow is in the forecast... which is good. The other snow melted away already. :) MORE SNOW!

I'm leaving for Vegas on Friday. :) I'm excited and so, so very busy while I'm there.

I wonder if Care's had her baby yet...? Any news???

Thursday, October 6, 2005

I really try not to be very political on here. I'm not one to throw my opinions at people. This war in Iraq, though, has saddened and disappointed me a great deal. Please, leave your ego at the door.

On another, happier, note this is good news for many a fearful woman.

I'm just writing to say I LOVE this new "BlogThis!" button on the Google tool bar.

blogoodness.

Saturday, October 1, 2005

I love living in a small town. Tonight we ate at the local diner where the cook came out and said hello and all of the waitresses were friendly and conversational. Then, after driving home, we walked over to the movie theatre to see Corpse Bride. This isn't anything special, really... but the fact that my kids saw four or five of their friends and we passed our neighbors on the way there and actually said hello was kind of neat. Kind of like how it should be, I guess.

So, at dinner, I look over at Ian and he's pinching and tugging at the skin of his neck... kind of pulling it out. I say "so, what're you doin'?" He doesn't say anything right away, just kinda looks at me. I say "playin' with your neck fat, huh?" He stares up at me and says "Nah... just the skin. I'm pulling it like this" and he demonstrates for me. Michael looks down at him and says "you know, that's your gobbler... like this" and Mike proceeds to grab at the skin in front of his adam's apple, pulls it out and makes a turkey gobble noise. More like turkey on crack. My son looks up at my husband as though he's lost his mind and says "Dad *sigh* you are SO crazy". End of story.

My sister is being stalked by the men of town. You see, she's kinda hot and the boys all like her. They found out that she stopped dating Jimmy and now they're all pursuing her a little more ardently than she would like. And Jimmy is horribly sad.
This totally reminds me of something I forgot to blog about a week ago. We live in a hunting community and it's elk season. My sister is walking in to work at 6am one day and all of the hunters were out in the parking lot waiting for the store to open. So, you know, she's walking along and she hears, instead of wolf whistles, ELK CALLS. The hunters were CALLING HER. *shakes head* Men, though at times annoying, are at least an endless source of amusement.

Mike comes home tonight. In fact, he should be here any minute. Finally, sleep will be mine! I had taken to medicating myself in order to sleep.... which sucks because I couldn't get out of bed on time in the morning.

Ian cut a little girl's hair in school yesterday. *snickers* I really did try to be angry.

In other news, going shopping for snow boots this weekend for the kids... WINTER!! :) YAY! I get to buy things like SLEDS and SNOWBOARDS for Christmas this year. I'm so excited!!

For those of you that love me a whole lot - I want a Nano for Christmas.

Monday, September 26, 2005

Okay. My sister just brought over balloons and cake. She's awesome.

Today was the worst birthday of my life. I've got all of these personal/medical issues that made me ucky. My husband is out of town and forgot to call me. My kids didn't remember.... AND I got home to find that they had let my dog eat a pair of my shoes (and of course they couldn't be the ones from Target... oh, no!) I'm sad and resentful and I really just can't wait to go to bed tonight.

Work was great, though. The pastry chef made me some yummy-ness and Michele and Bradley sang to me and had the candles and everything. Very neat. That accounted for all of 20 minutes in my day.

Over the last week I have been through a lot but I'm on my way back to normal.

On to another bit of weirdness: I somehow managed to find Kelsey from PackBell on MySpace. Crazy. She's still with John and living in Dallas.

And, just because I like to share, I have a few small addictions. I love Crunch and Munch, rum raisin ice cream, and PostSecret

My dog is so damn cute.

I didn't realize until today how much I need some form of normal in my life. I hate upheaval. I stayed in bed until eleven today. I want Michael to come home. I don't know what I'd do without Megan.

On another note, my sister was arrested for a DUI and possession last night. She's eighteen. Thank goodness it happened before she actually hurt someone or herself. Now maybe my parents will wake up and realize there's a problem.

Wild West Day is tomorrow. It's an event to support all of the local schools. There'll be hayrides and ponies... games and giveaways. The boys are so excited to be going!

It's getting cold here. I closed my windows last night for the first time since I've moved here. When we left for work, there was ice on our windshield and driving in to Beaver Creek this morning we saw snow on some of the peaks. I'm really excited about the cold... nervous but excited. There will be snow on the ground by Halloween and the first heavy snow will hit before Thanksgiving. The colors are starting to turn. I can drive through the valley and see yellow and red brush mixed with the green pines and aspens. I can't wait for the aspens to turn, though. If I can, I want to drive up past Sylvan Lake after the turn and see them all... that's where the largest aspen grove is, which happens to be the worlds largest living organism (thanks to their root system). There's so much to look forward to this winter and I'm almost wanting to slam on the brakes for fear that it'll happen too soon. :) Christmas is right around the corner... how'd that happen?

Monday, September 12, 2005

I don't really have much to say today. I'm just a little bit bored. I have stuff to do but it's all so menial that I have no desire to begin. Isn't that awful? I had a good weekend. We went to the BBQ/Barn Dance on Friday with the kids. We stayed and ate some pretty impressive barbeque but ended up leaving before the dance really kicked off because there was a severe thunderstorm warning. Severe here is actually severe. It's kind of weird. When we visited Las Vegas last there were storm warnings and it felt like drizzle to me compared to the drops that come down here. When they hit your car they sound like pebbles instead of water. Saturday was my day to turn in to a vegetable. I did nothing but catch up on sleep and watch TV. I was actually a little ashamed of myself. Sunday Mike and I hung out and had my sister and niece over for dinner. She broke it off with the new guy, which is fine. So long as she's happy I can support it. :) That's it, I guess. More later this week, I'm sure.

Wednesday, September 7, 2005

So... my dog cries at night. I'd think this normal for a puppy. When they have to pee they cry to let you know and then you can let them out, right? Right. No. Not my puppy. My puppy wants to play! It's my own fault. Since we're crate training he sleeps all morning until the kids get home. They take him outside and play all afternoon so by seven he's exhausted. We go to bed around eleven or so... yeah. So he sleeps until about one or two. Mike has been so incredibly tolerant, too. It's so funny to see him deny how much he loves this dog while he has a big grin on his face every time he looks at Pagan.

Yesterday I took Pagan to visit my sister and my niece. They're doing so great! Hannah got all of her hair cut off and now she looks like a pixie with her big, green eyes and her stick-out-a-little-too-far ears. Megan is doing well, too. She's dating this guy that makes Michael seem like a saint when it comes to ornery, which is awesome. Just what she needs. He's got three kids, too, and they're all little hellions. Cute, sweet hellions... but still. Anyway, my dog LOVED Fiona (her dog) and started rolling all around and jumping back and forth. It was so cute. Unfortunately, though, 'Ona thought that Pagan was one of her chew toys and after being all sniffy for awhile tried to eat him. *sighs* Poor Pagan just wasn't the same after. His poor tail was stuck in down mode.

I haven't posted a lot about the kids lately. Matt and Zach both have love interests now. Sorta. Zach is all bothered over this girl named Iris. He's going to, supposedly, ask her to the barn dance on Friday. Cuteness. Matt got all flipped out over a girl while he was at his eighth grade team building excursion at Sylvan Lake. Her name is Catherine and she played with his hair. How awesome is that?? He said he completely freaked out because no other girl had ever touched his hair but me. Boys going in to puberty are hilarious. Ian is Ian. He's crazy. I found out that Megan has known his teacher for a couple of years. Small world... well, small town, anyway. I love it!!

Monday, September 5, 2005

Pagan is very, very cute. He's so cute I'm even forgiving of the messes he leaves for me to clean up. Plus, he won't go potty in his crate so... half the battle is won!

I haven't posted anything about Katrina. I don't really have a good reason for this. I think about Katrina a great deal. Mike, the kids and I watch CNN for updates constantly and I'm always reading about it. Mike has family there. Some of them were stuck in attics. They still can't find four of the cousins. It's a tragic thing. I cry sometimes when I read about the horror that those people are going through and, while it is difficult for me to understand why they remained in the city despite the mandatory evacuation, I still cannot forgive our government for its lack of response to the disaster. Is there any real excuse? Something solid that says "we let people die for *insert purpose here*"? Are my expectations of our government just too high? That we save our own... that we look after our own??? It's shameful.

See? Isn't he the cutest wittle puppy EVAR?

Thursday, September 1, 2005

I think I may be going out to Denver tomorrow to adopt a puppy. Maybe. If she's still there. I'm really excited about this dog thing. I call it a dog thing because I'm definitely a cat person. Dogs freak me out a little. They're more like children than cats are. Cats, you feed 'em. You scratch 'em. You pay attention when they want you to... they'll tell ya. With dogs it's like a constant maintenance thing. You have to take them out and walk them, clean up after them, comb them... bathe them *wrinkles nose*. But, still... I'm excited. I want to go get her right this second!! I promise to post pictures when I get her home!!

Wednesday, August 31, 2005

I had my first ever massage at a spa yesterday. And it was free... Her name was Candice. She touched my fanny.

Seriously, though, it was absolutely fantastic. You know what was better? Getting on the scale afterward and finding out that since leaving Las Vegas I've lost ten pounds. Way better than the massage.

Tuesday, August 30, 2005

I want to believe.

http://www.venganza.org/

Have you been touched by His Noodly Appendage?

Monday, August 29, 2005

My bird learned to imitate my laughter... it's kinda neat.

*stunned* I've just been told I am the new gallery director. WTF?

I ate a Hershey bar after lunch and now I feel gross. Yes, gross. There are times in one's life where one cannot belabor the vocabulary one chooses to describe one's nastiness. Hypoglycemia is a hideous condition to have. On the bright side, I've walked up and down stairs all day so at least I won't grow any larger from the consumption of said Hershey bar.

Mike spent all weekend at the Christie working, which sucked rather hard. I got to see him this morning just before I came to work. I miss him. I'll be glad to crawl in to bed with him tonight.

So, being an employee of the lodge I get a discount at one of the spas around here. 25% off all scheduled treatments and $25 walk-in hour-long massages. I was talking to Scott, the owner, and told him I'd never had a massage before... so now I'm getting a free one! Free massage tomorrow after work. *dances* I'm so lucky.

No new news. My sister has a boyfriend now and they're adorable together. I haven't seen her really happy with a man for so long I was a little surprised by the ease that she fell in to it after her divorce... but I'm ecstatic for her and Jimmy is really rather fantastically funny.

My Kick-Ass-Sexy Shoes

I want to post everyday just to tell you all what I had for lunch. Today it was red pepper bisque. Yesterday was stuffed pablano peppers. I'm in love with this town... and I'm full.

Thursday, August 25, 2005

Making changes to the blog soon. Jenny is helping, of course. I'm going to be adding links and changing the image and I'll be posting pictures soon, too. Good things to come.

I deleted members that didn't participate. I don't think my husband reads my site at all... and I'm fairly certain David has forgotten that I have one. Mind you, there's no bitterness. Just observation. :)

Tuesday, August 23, 2005

Didn't make it to Holy Toledo... *sad* I was denied my shopping by this massive farmers market in Minturn. I really want to go to the market, too, but having on those shoes kind of derailed any plans to shop where I'd have to hike from my parking to the final destination.

The dog I want is $1800. It's a Tibetan Terrier and they're SO adorable. They're great with kids and big, lovey, playful cuddle bugs. I so want one but I think it's a little out of my range. Dammit.

I went to a giant rummage sale... that was pretty cool. I had never been to a rummage sale before. It's like fighting with a hundred women that all want what you have. Kinda fun.

Bianca is now the Sugar Bee. Don't ask... just accept the goodness that is Sugar Bee. *beams*

All hooked up on the internet now, too. Thanks to Mike and his patience with the cable people. YAY INTERNET!

Saturday, August 20, 2005

I have to work a half of a day today. No big deal. I really love my job, my boss, my co-workers. It's nice to be able to help out and I don't even feel like bitching about it. I love that.

I am wearing my kick-ass-sexy shoes today (best gift EVAR!) and looking at puppies online. I can't decide what has me more excited... which will likely prompt dog owners to tell me not to get a dog. That's only because they don't know how I feel about shoes, though. :) F'real, though, I'm so needing a puppy and Mike said I could have one and I'm practically jumping out of my skin trying to decide what kind of puppy will make the best addition to our family. Something that won't eat my bird, obviously.

I've been invited, along with my older boys and husband, to attend a Broncos game tonight in Denver. I think I'm going to skip it but I know Mike wants to go and the boys would love it. Maybe Ian and I can go to the movies or something instead. Today I'm going to go to lunch with Mike and go shopping at Holy Toledo. I think tomorrow I'll head in to town to check out some pet stores...

No new news. I'm sleepy. I'm addicted to green tea fraps at starbucks.

Random things:

I think one of my sisters has a drinking problem. I told my parents while they were here visiting on the way back from Wyoming. They were in Yellowstone and up at our family cabin (which is ginormous, three cabins combined in to one) with all of the granddaughters. Next year they're taking all of the grandsons.

My kids call my grandmother great-grandma... like they should. They call my mom good-grandma. Just sharing because I think it's cute.

Ian will look at something in awe and say "that's SO BEAUTIFUL" like he's twenty instead of five. I love that.

I love hanging out with my sister Mariah. Her name is really spelled "Maria" but she added an "h" so people would stop calling her Maria.

My sister Megan makes me want to be a better human being. Seriously.

There are few true loves in my life that aren't love by default (read "family" (which doesn't mean I love them less)). I choose to love without judgement or regret only four people. I try to remember that because it makes me remember how remarkable those people are.

I can be captivated by the way something or someone smells.

Music can make me cry.

I sing hymns when I'm afraid and it 'settles' me. I'm afraid of the dark. My sister, Shara, once snuck up on me in a dark warehouse and I punched her. Hard. Really hard. Then I felt bad.

I miss her... and I feel guilty that I wasn't a better sister to her.

My sisters have the ability and capacity to be more than they are but that they are happy is all that is important.

Back from Vegas and SO happy about it! We hit this tremendous lightning storm right after Grand Junction that was just amazing. I've never seen lightning so close!!! I could see it touching the ground in the towns we passed.

Anyway, I had such a good time with everyone. Carolyn looks adorable and I found something at Carters I want to get for her. I'll be out again in October right before she's due and I'm so excited!! Sara's hair is adorable... and so is Sara! :) I wish she were happier, though. I really do. Jenny is beautiful and married and I just can't believe it sometimes but I love the way she beams when you call her Mrs. Schrimshaw. Adorableness. Bianca and David are always an adventure but this time their affection for each other, though grudging, was obvious and I was happy that they got along so well during my visit. I miss the three of them more than I can say. No, I'm not moving back, Bee... no. Bianca bought me these kick ass sexy shoes for my birthday. I need to buy kick ass sexy clothes to wear with them. We all had sushi together, which was great... but I think that the big dinner at Paymon's was really fantastic. It was nice to have everyone there (except Tom) and finally meet Amy and see my sisters. Great fun.

That was my trip in a nutshell... I miss everyone already but I'm so glad to be home.

Friday, August 12, 2005

I'm tired. It's six-ish and it's been a long day. We just got new tires put on the van yesterday and it's STILL vibrating like mad. Dave looked at it again today and I guess there's one other thing to try but he's not going to charge us until he's sure it'll fix it. For those of you that don't know, my entire suspension system has at this point been replaced. It's sick, how much money I've dumped in to the van. BUT it should last forever now. :) YAY.

Mike's here... I wanted to write more but now isn't going to be the time. See everyone soon!

Blogger killed my post. I'm going to summarize.

I don't have to go to Florida.

Heading out west soon to visit... couldn't be happier.

David called me a Coloradoan and it made me laugh.

All done!

Thursday, August 4, 2005

I have to go to Florida for two days at the end of the month. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Tuesday, August 2, 2005

For the last couple of weeks it has rained every afternoon/evening. You can watch the clouds build into thunderstorms through the day. It's not like the desert where you watch the wind sweep the clouds over the valley. It's different... the clouds pile on top of each other as they come over the mountains. It's really amazing. Piles and piles of white down coming up over the ridges. My new place has windows all through and we leave them open all of the time for the breezes. When the clouds finally get too heavy and turn the dark, ominous gray of the storm you can feel the air change. I'll be sitting under the window reading and hear the wind pick up just before the air kisses my skin with bursts that feel like waves of cool water and I know that this is one of the happiest times of my life. I close my eyes and breathe in the air and my kids stop whatever it is they're doing... watching a movie, fighting, reading... and they just stop and feel the air around them and smile as they smell the wet earth. It's inspiring and I want to share it all with everyone but I'm really just not talented enough to make you all feel it.

I got the job! I am now the Executive Assistant to the General Manager at the Beaver Creek Lodge. :) YAY ME!

There's been a lot going on. Not only am I employed but I have also moved in to a place in Eagle Ranch (a golf course community in Eagle, CO) and I should be all settled very, very shortly. Internet soon, so more posts to come. I'll be in Vegas from August 13th or 14th to the 16th.

I can't post more now but I promise I'll be updating more in the near future.

Thursday, June 30, 2005

My uncle passed away this morning. *sad*

Wednesday, June 29, 2005

Changed the site name. :) YAY.

So, anyway, had an interview at the lodge yesterday that went two hours and I'll know something in a couple of days. Cross your fingers.

Saturday, June 25, 2005

Driving the highways up here is really a beautiful experience. It's just pretty. Right up until you come across the scene of "Big-Rig Meets Bambi". It was like a deer exploded on the pavement. Not right. You also come to realize that magpies are really pretty birds until you find them eating unidentifiable animal bits on the side of the road. Then they're just nasty.

I saw an elk up in Cordillera (sounds like core-dee-air) the other day while Mike and I were exploring the uppity communities. Elk are very large and very dark in comparison to a normal deer. Scary large. I really need a bigger car.

Nothing else to report. I'm hungry because I stayed at the Christie with Mike last night and skipped breakfast so I'm going to go find food.

Back Home

At last! The trip to Vegas was full of interesting times. My family is fun (read "complicated"). I don't want to say anything bad because there really isn't anything bad to say. They are who they are. I love them. The majority of the time was spent with friends. Eating out and having a good time. Throwing David and Bianca together in a room is always like conducting a chemistry experiment that gives you a different reaction every time you do it. Jenny and Mike are adorable and I'm so glad to see her in love. Megan and I had to leave a little early but I have to say that driving through the night with my sister is by far the most fun on a road trip a girl can have. She's hilarity in a size 1. Yes... I really did say size 1. I know it's not right but I swear she doesn't even look too thin. It's sick.

For those of you that don't know, I am job hunting. While in Vegas I get a call while I'm taking the boys to their dad's house and ask my sister, Mariah, to answer so I can figure out how to find his house. So, my sister being my sister, answers the phone and is all sweet... and then she notices the British accent. She thinks the guy on the phone is a friend of mine so she proceeds to MOCK him in his accent and gets all snooty. She doesn't do British well. So the guy on the phone is saying something I can't hear and I'm assuming she's messing with my ex-husband. Then her face crumbles. She says "Oh god" and throws the phone at me. Doesn't say anything to the guy on the other end.... doesn't tell me who it is. It's a call from one of the lodges up here about an executive admin position I had applied for. Needless to say, after countless apologies, I had the worst interview of my life. It was levels of bad I had never experienced. Thankfully, the guy thinks I'm the funniest thing to ever walk the planet and asks for my resume. I had a phone interview with him yesterday. It was again trauma in a phone call. Horrid.... but he still thinks I'm just a natural comedian and I swear he calls me just to amuse himself. I told him he should let me talk to someone else so I could at least try to convince someone I was competent. So he's sending my resume to the general manager and I should have an interview shortly.

On another note, I'm happy. In the last three days I've seen robins, black birds (real ones, with the red and yellow on the wings), blue birds, deer and butterflies that I've only seen in books. Flowers are everywhere. I was taking Mike in to work and there was a haze in the air because of the humidity (a storm coming in) and he looks at me and says, "it looks kind of smoggy today, doesn't it?" I started laughing at him. He really needs to come back to Vegas with me in August.

Wednesday, June 15, 2005

I'm here! I have to say that seemed way more excited than I feel. We left last night at ten and got in this morning around six. We made really good time with all of the kids sleeping in the back of the van... well, trying to sleep. My sister, Megan, and I are pretty comical at four in the morning. You know it's time to stop driving when you can't identify the vehicle in front of you as a semi. Yeah. And you think it's funny.

Plans for this week are as follows: Tonight I'm going to get together with Jenny for some food. I haven't decided between Indian or Chipotle. I know... weird. I've got Matt's ortho appointment tomorrow and then Willow's graduation. I'm so excited for her! Then a big barbeque at my mom's with the family. Friday I'm hanging out some with David after I drop Ian off with Grandma and Grandpa in Mesquite and then it's sushi later that day with David, Bianca and Jenny. I can't begin to express my joy at the thought of sushi. Yum. Sushi. Saturday night I'm meeting up with BB at the Pink Taco for her birthday. :) Busy, busy.

Carolyn, just a note to say that I couldn't be happier for you. I'll try to be out here for the shower if I can!

I just want to say that I'm ready to go home and I haven't been here that long. :\ I know it seems a little odd but I love where I live and as I'm driving in to the Las Vegas valley, before I can even see the city, there is a sickly green haze hovering on the horizon. Once in to town I find I can't see across the valley and the mountains are a blur because there is so much dust and smog in the air. My eyes sting and my van is a furnace. It was seventy-ish degrees in CO before I left and had rained twice in the last week. They don't have air conditioners in most of the homes up there because you never need them. I've used my van's air conditioner once this summer until I got here. I hate the desert.

Wednesday, June 1, 2005

I'll be in town from 06/15 (at night) to 06/19 (leaving in the morning)

I am so going out for sushi.

Tuesday, May 17, 2005

There's been so much going on and I never find time to post. Mike was just hired on as the front desk manager at the Christie Lodge in Avon. He works with both my uncle and my cousin now. :) It's great to have connections... but in the end I know that Michael sold himself. Jenny and her Mike are engaged now. How wonderful is that? I'm sure that there are skeptics out there but I'm all for love happening strong and fast. David graduated from UNLV, for which I am so proud. I miss him. His quiet support of me has always been so accessible and now that he is far away I feel like I'm missing a piece of my family.

It's beautiful here. The weather is fickle and it rains in what they all call the "mud season". When I got here a few weeks ago everything was still dead from the winter and now I look around at a canvas of green. Everything is coming to life. It's amazing. I walk outside to go to my car and by the time I get there I'm smiling just because it's good to be alive here. That sounds so corny, I know. It's true, though. We took the boys up to the alpine gardens in Vail last weekend and as we walked along the nature trails we saw birds and squirrels. I have pictures of my kids enjoying the river... and it was a joy to watch them as they looked for fish in the clear streams. We saw a beaver dam. It was uneventful. *smiles*

Schools are amazing. They have salad bars and hot lunches that are more than soft tacos from Taco Bell. Matt's school is about the same size as his middle school there with about a third of the children. Only 90 kids in all of the 7th grade. His classes are no more than 25 or so to a teacher. Zach's is the same way... and the principals of both schools came out and met us and the kids when we registered them. Made small talk and asked questions about the kids. I took Matt to school late yesterday and they called me to ask if he was okay. Wow.

I miss everyone. I really do. I can't wait until you visit.

WE'RE HERE!!

So I've invaded my cousin's house to attack the internet. Sophie is awesome!

I just wanted to post an update. We had an interesting (read boring) trip up. When we weren't fighting sleep we were dealing with issues like the engine light in the Uhaul coming on. Does that happen? Yes. You know what they tell you when you call that number to tell them about it? They tell you to keep going. Yeah. So we get here, we go to sleep, we wake up and IT'S SNOWING! So pretty. It's been cold here... rain and snow off and on. Nice, though. I start work next week and it's looking like it was a good choice. They're already whispering "she has management experience" when talking about what I'm to do. Yes, I'll start in the bakery but I don't expect to be there long. Long enough to learn to make flowers with icing, though. I miss everyone. I need to go now. I think Mike wants some internet time, too.

Sunday, April 24, 2005

I've noticed that I don't give much detail in this thing. I'm still getting used to it, I guess. I'm not a natural "share your everything with the internet" kind of person.
Yesterday was SO long. I can't believe how much moving takes out of you. So, wake up early after going to bed late and pack. Pack pack pack pack pack. Okay, time to get ready for the wedding. Tell Mike. Mike says in a minute he's finishing stuff. David shows up with Ellie to say goodbye... You see where this is going, right? Right. We were late for the wedding. Everyone was understanding though. Mike's sister looked very beautiful and everyone was so happy! I miss hanging out with his parents playing cards every once in a while. Maybe with all of the trips to Vegas we need to take over the next year there will be more opportunity for that. They're great people. So, after the wedding, pack pack pack. Realize there's no way in hell that we'll get everything in the truck. Sooo....
Jenny came over last night while I was moving and made out with half of my stuff. They were things that we were thinking of getting rid of anyway and when we ran out of space on the truck it just solidified the decision. You know, you never realize how much crap you accumulate until you move. It's astounding. David (my ex) came over too. I think Mike might have died without his help. He gave us that extra oomph that we needed. THANK YOU DAVID!
Now I'm at my mother's where we crashed late last night. I needed an internet fix and it might be a while before I can get my hands on a keyboard again... Oh. And some sleep.

It's sick how many people I miss already. Just a few comments: Jenny is the best friend anyone could ever hope to have. Bianca holds my heart... I feel like I'm betraying her but I know she'll be okay. I just worry because I know she's not as tough as she seems. She's beautiful and tragic and I love her. Then there's David. I'll miss him but I know he's keep in touch. I just know. *note to David - you had better keep in touch.

I'm off to eat breakfast... then I'm off to Colorado.

Friday, April 22, 2005

Wow. Today was my last day. A lot has gone on in the last two days. I came in to work yesterday to a desk absolutely covered in confetti... which I could see once I got through all of the balloons and streamers. It was fantastic! Really, the team went all out to send me off the old fashioned way. They brought in food for lunch... and cake. Mmm. Cake. It was a very good day. I should have spent more time with Jesse but I think he's going to be all right. I really do. This morning I came in all excited but by eleven I was stressed out. Thanks Mike. My boss, Mike. Not my husband, Mike. He wanted me to stay until six and was giving me all sorts of trouble... but then I found out he was just trying to be nice and take me for a drink to say goodbye. I ruined his surprise. It was a very nice surprise to ruin, though. He's really a very good guy and I like him a lot. He needs to relax more. A lot more. No... really. A lot. Bianca took me for lunch at Lucille's where she cursed at the waiter. He took it in good spirits, though. Later he told her he didn't want to piss her off for fear she'd stab him with her fork. I love her.

So, yeah. Wow. What a day.

Tuesday, April 19, 2005

My boss is mean to me. I wish I didn't like him so I could dislike him more. *sighs*

I've been perusing the varied blogs on the internet and I've come to the realization that mine is not all that interesting. I'm okay with that. I created it for my own amusement and I'm happy with the idea that I can openly relay my feelings and thoughts to the void that is my blog.

Barton has abandoned me. I checked his site this morning knowing I'd be utterly disappointed. My time is coming so much faster than I thought it would and it doesn't help that I count down every day with Ian.

Today it went like this:

Me: "Ian! How many more days??"
Ian: "Umm..." *blank stare as he ponders the math*
Me: "Ian, only four more days after today!" I hold up my fingers for him to count, which he does. Ian can count to thirty without assistance but he can't subtract yet.
Ian: "FOUR MORE DAYS!"
Me: "then what??"
Ian: "COLOWADO!" *smiles as though possessed*

You see, Ian decided recently that he dislikes attending his daycare and the countdown is how we've managed to keep him from attaching himself to my legs in the morning, thus making me immobile and incapable of getting to work. Now, in reality, Ian loves daycare and always has. He's been attending the same daycare since he was nine months old so he knows the entire staff and most of the children in his class. No, the real issue is Ian's desire to see me squirm while trying to leave the daycare. He knows I'm in a hurry. He knows I want coffee. He knows I hate it when he's unhappy. He knows I'll eventually say something along the lines of "how about we go get you some hot chocolate at Starbucks after school today, hm? But only if you're good." Now, this whole counting-the-days-until-we-leave thing is saving me a fortune in hot chocolate but I still feel like such a sucker.

*sighs* Yeah. My kids own me.

Out for sushi last night with the group, probably for the last time in a long time. It was very much fun and I'm going to miss nights like that. Watched Closer, good movie but rather tragic. It's an interesting look at relationships. Realized, yet again, that I love Damien Rice. A lot. Thank you, David. Off to pack s'more. It's going to be a long week, I think. I look around and can't believe there's still so much to do!

Mike Barton will be departing Las Vegas this Saturday. Just a week before I make my departure. It hasn't really hit me yet, I don't think. I wonder if I'll be sad on my last day here. CL has been a staple in my life for so long. Through my divorce from David, my relationship with Mike, the birth of our son, the death of my sister and my Shayla. Seven years is a long time. I look back at all of my time here and I wonder if people really remember what it was like. I know some of them do. Judy and Jesse do. Being an agent was so much fun. Being a supervisor was so much harder once you actually had the job. Being an OM *sighs* well, you work for Mike. High pressure is a good way to describe it. You either loved it here or you hated it and I loved it. I mean, it has had its share of BS to deal with. Every company does.... but the grass isn't always greener on the other side and I'm not leaving because I'm unhappy here. I'll miss this place. These people. They're my family.

Trust. It's so simple a concept. So important in everything we do. So devastating when abused or broken. I tell myself that I'm worthy of trust. I try to live up to the expectations of others... the expectations I have of myself. I value my relationships more than anything in life. People you can really count on to be there for you, to love you despite the fact that you have faults, are hard to find and I do my best not to take them for granted... but I'm flighty and can be very selfish. I recognize this about myself and, for the most part, can control my sometimes inappropriate impulses. Sometimes I make mistakes, though, and those mistakes can impact others in ways that I can't grasp as well as I'd like. I have a hard time wrapping my brain around the concept that I've hurt someone. When it hits me I'm often wreaked with guilt. Guilt isn't something I'm very good at.

You know who you are. I'm sorry.

I saw my boss blush today.

The Team

I was able to tell my team today that I was leaving. It didn't cause nearly the level of surprise or sadness I was anticipating. My ego is wounded... I may die. All drama aside, I'm excited. SO excited. I'm happy for Jesse, too. This is such a great opportunity for him and I'm hoping that he'll be as successful as I know he is capable of being. Wow. I'm leaving ClientLogic. I'm still in shock and I gave notice two weeks ago.

If the blog looks funny for a while, it's because I am messing with it. And stuff. Mrowr.
Update 1:
Dag nabbit. Anyway, there are a billion settings I need to change so this might take a bit.
Update 2:
Oh man, this is gonna take some time but I have the best idea for something totally awesome. You just wait.

The weekend it shaping up to be lovely. Friday night, out and about at PT's with everyone. I haven't seen that many of the CL group together in a very long time. Barton and Sketti missed Espinosa, though... no one but Ken really wants to miss Espinosa. :) Got home late, woke up early... still drunk. Bah. Three Advil, a Claritin and a shower later I'm feeling better and the day wore on. Took my Sketti to get her hair cut and she looks like Twiggy now. So, SO cute. Really. Adorable. Traub hung out at our place with Mike and the kids and when Sketti and I got back we all just hung out for a while. Sketti tried to tame my vicious bird who apparently hated her to a degree I have never seen from him before. Poor Sketti sustained many injuries. So now it's Sunday and I just got out of bed. David will be over to get the boys and I have work to do, both the packing and the working kind.

Let me sleep!

I don't know what is wrong with me lately but I can't keep my eyes open. I wake up, I'm fine. I go to work, I'm exhausted. I go home, I'm okay until about 8:30 or so and after that I feel like a zombie. Ugh. *yawns* At least David is here to go get me coffee... and I'm going for Sushi later with Barton! I think I have plans with BB later, too... My day is bound to get a little more energetic.

You know, I've never been particularly good at maintaining these things. Jenny can attest to that. I'm never really sure what everyone wants to hear about and I have a hard time spilling my thoughts to something that doesn't provide me immediate feedback. I've never been one to keep a journal or a diary. I think this will get easier when things start to happen. I can imagine posting the first pictures of my new life. Pictures of the boys fishing in the Eagle River this summer, the water high from the snow melt... or Mike sledding with Ian down the hill behind my aunt's house next winter. I can see clearly in my mind my sister's dog, Fiona, knocking Ian over in the snow and licking his cold-flushed cheeks until he, in frustration, cries to be let up. They are all snapshots in my mind of the life I'll be living. Things that, to me, are already a given. I think that posting will get easier. *frowns* I hope posting will get easier. There are some people that I really don't want to lose touch with.

...and so it begins

I gave my notice today. Four weeks from now I will be moving to a place so beautiful it is difficult for me to express. I'm going to miss my friends, my loves, so very much... but not this place. Not this desert. I'm flooded with so many emotions. Joy and heartbreak should never come in the same instant.

I can't wait to be there.
